How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd

So today was sort of siblings movie midnight. We watched the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again and I just had the feeling I should write about it. This one differs from all of these romantic comedies and drama movies full of clichés and that's what I like about it.
The two main characters are Joel Barish(Jim Carrey) and Clementine Kruczynski(Kate Winslet). The story is about love, the pain it costs and about erasing each other from their memories.
I believe that memories determine ourselves, who we are. We learn from our mistakes everyday and it may not seem like it right at this moment, but we do change. In fact we're always changing, every millisecond, defining our own personality. We never stay the same. But only after longer period of time people realize: "Wow, he/she has changed a lot."
People always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourselves. A person is an involving identity throughout time. As we interact more with the world, our ego begins to develop. It grows day after day. In my point of view, we are all works in progress for the entirety of our lives. We don't ever really know ourselves. The core values might stay with us, but every experiences we have adapt the way we behave, we act, we make decisions.

Joel Barish at the very beginning. Living his stereotype.
He goes to work. He comes home.
Hoping to meet someone new and interesting.
Someone that would change his life.
He meets this special girl Clementine.
Both seem to be so different, but they immediately fall for each other.
But the relationship causes more pain than joy for both of them. Everything changes.
"...We met at the wrong time. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway.
Maybe one day years from now, we’ll meet in a coffee shop
in a far away city somewhere and we could give it another shot.
So until then, I’ll just have to continue feeling this way everyday. Sad."
"... Sometimes I think people don't understand how lonely it is to be a kid.
Like you don't matter. So, I'm eight, and I have these toys, these dolls.
Like you don't matter. So, I'm eight, and I have these toys, these dolls.
My favorite is this ugly girl doll who I call Clementine, and I keep yelling at her,
"You can't be ugly! Be pretty!" It's weird, like if I can transform her,
I would magically change too."

This movie reminded me of Marilyn Monroe's quote:
“I believe that everything happens for a reason.
People change so that you can learn to let go,
things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right,
you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself,
and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

I can see myself in Joel. Shy and reserved, but the very opposite once I open up. This movie can take you by surprise and re-evaluate your opinions about Jim Carrey, because it shows us that he actually can act in serious film(as you can also see in the Truman Show). It's such a pity that people only see him as some crazy clown from comedies. He seems to got stuck in stereotype he created himself.
For the sake of sanity, all I can say is that this movie is terribly beautiful. It made me think a lot and in few moments I got some serious goosebumps. The story leads to suprising conclusion, but I won't tell you any further details. I gladly recommend this movie.
this movie is so bizarre to me! but yet i still watch and love it
